The curve was carefully matched to cover the original
firebrick...
In places, only 1/4 inch separates our massive curved
fireplace surround from the original massive brick unit that once stood here.
Standing a little over six feet tall, this is certainly a focal point! And the
form we created to make this is the largest we've ever attempted--it weighed in
at 380 lbs and required six people to load into the press.
