'Titanic' Doors
Four different people said these massive
mahogany doors reminded them of doors they saw in the movie 'Titanic'. Correct
or not, the doors have acquired the moniker 'Titanic Doors' forevermore.
Fortunately,
titanic is the right word. 2 -1/4 inches thick,
nine feet tall, weighing in at... well, a lot! (My postage scale certainly
can't weigh them and I don't know the nearest truck scales, but I know that
they're really, really heavy.) Especially with the outrageous 6in wide moldings
and 1/2 thick double beveled glass. We needed four ball bearing hinges per door
to support them. These are two of a set of seven.
